A warm welcome to Michelle who is sharing this post with us today from www. .com/home/working-mom/
I thought this was a great read for all parents who have children graduating in June. Saying Goodbye to Babyhood My youngest child graduated from kindergarten yesterday. Now, it’s time to say goodbye to babyhood. I’m SO not ready for this. I thought after having six children, I would get used to saying goodbye to Babyhood…. NOPE! I walked into the crowded cafeteria. The kindergarteners were standing on the stage, and dressed in Hawaiian outfits. They began to sing and dance and OMG…they were SO cute…and so grown up!! As I watched them, I began to realize that I would never again have a kindergartener. I would never again walk an excited baby into a classroom for the very first time. The more I started to think, the more emotional I got. It got worse when they called Michael’s name. He walked on stage and accepted his certificate. Yep, I lost it. I remember the day he was born. His pregnancy was really rough. I was on bed rest for six months, and they had to stop my labor multiple times. Three weeks before my due date, I started having a LOT of pain. I went to the hospital and they admitted me for observation. By the morning, I was 5 centimeters dilated and my blood pressure was elevated. Shop Amazon Outlet - Clearance, Markdowns Deals The doctor broke my water and they hooked me up with the epidural. I was a happy camper! I chilled out for a few hours watching Law and Order. He was born after a few episodes…. three weeks early at 8 lbs. 12 oz. (SO glad he came early). He made my heart melt with his chubby cheeks. Now, six short years later, he was officially graduating from kindergarten. He’s not a baby anymore. He has his own likes and dislikes, as well as his own personality. He’s in the stage where he still needs Mommy, but he’s pulling away to find his own path in life. I’m not ready for this! It seriously never gets easier. You never get used to it. Every milestone reminds me that my children are growing up. When my daughter graduated 5th grade, I couldn’t breathe because I was crying so hard. When each of my daughters graduated high school, it was the same thing. My middle sons are 15 and 12. They are BOTH taller than I am. I think my 15-year old grows another inch every week. My 12-year old is a serious gamer and talks non-stop about games that I have never heard of. Listening to him reminds me that they too have their own lives and personalities. My babies aren’t babies anymore! They are growing up! I want my children to grow up to be responsible, well-adjusted adults…but does it have to happen so fast? |
