There is a lot of studies on what children learn through play. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have heard parents get frustrated over what their children are learning from this little four letter word. Here are some examples of what children are getting from playtime. 1. Role-playing – This is one of the things children do practice their social skills. I love when the children are playing house and you can hear the sounding like you. 2. Mixed age grouping – Children in mixed age groups can be very nurturing. The little children in the group tend to find the older children role models. 3. Creative play – Children can learn to use their imagination using blocks and Lego’s. 4. Math and readiness skills – Setting up toy shelves with pictures and words children can learn sorting, classification and reading skills. So when you ask a child what he did today at school and they say play. One thing a parent knows is that there is a lot of learning going on.

I couldn't agree more---I think as adult we need to learn to take time to learn through play too.

Don't they say that when a child is at play, he's seriously at work? I definitely agree with that. In the middle of all that fun, a child learns the essential skills he needs as he grows up.

I love playtime with my little guy. If I could just spend the whole day playing and learning with him, I'd do it! It's not just him who's learning, I feel like I'm learning all over again with him and it's such a wonderful journey.

Play time is jus as important as the hard learning time because they use up the excess energy and work different parts of their minds. Plus, it teaches them social skills they need.
