Now with further ado here is Caroline Poser ! Here is the words she uses to introduce her blog messy and imperfect blog. I found it to be a lovey blog. Now with further ado here is Caroline Poser ! 1. How did you chose your child’s name and why? I have three children, all boys. My first, Mark, is named after his father. For the second, I picked a name I liked because of the way it sounds with his last name. He went by his middle name for the first five years of his life and decided in kindergarten that he wanted to go by his “Bible name,” Daniel. My third son goes by his middle name, Griffin, which is a mythical creature, half eagle and half lion, representing the Lord of Heavens and the King of the Earth, like Jesus. 2. What is the hardest and easiest part of being a parent? It’s all hard, was my first thought. But it’s really not. There are hard parts but sometimes it’s really fun. It’s almost like I have a do over because I can experience everything again through my children’s eyes. One of the hard phases is when the kids are really young and I was exhausted from not getting a full night’s sleep or having a baby hanging on me all the time. I had two in diapers at once, also. As they kids get more independent, it gets easier. Then as they enter the tween and teen years and get active with sports, it’s a lot of running around, which can be hard. Then there are the emotional teen years and the time for nudging out of the nest, which is hard for me as I realize their childhoods are waning and I am “getting old.” I was a single mom for a long time and that is extremely hard. The easy or fun parts are watching my kids grow and succeed and become the kind of people that I enjoy hanging around with and having a conversation with. 3. What is your biggest fear as a parent? Now that my oldest is driving, it is that he’ll get into an accident. I try not to think about it. We spent a long time driving together before he took his test and he’s developed into a good driver. I worry that my kids might try drugs or alcohol and go down a bad path, however, I really try not to dwell on fear too much because my mind will go to bad places. I just try to set a good example and keep my kids headed in a good direction. We do go to church and they spend all summer attending and now working (the older two) at a Christian camp. My oldest goes to Catholic High School (his choice; we’re not even Catholic). I actually have more fears around my own health and dying. (I am not sick, so this is irrational and also something I try not to think about, but my parents both died young so I can’t help but think about my own mortality.) 4. Biggest worry about the future for your child? Again, I am not worried. My greatest desire for my kids has always been that they be happy and productive members of society in a career of their choice. I hope they have successful relationships. I have one who wants to study science in college, one who doesn’t know, and one who wants to cut hair. I have a lot of ideas about what I wish they would do, but they need to follow their own dreams, and I need to be okay with that. Of course I guide them and teach them but I am just trying to get them to the launching pad with a solid set of skills and self-confidence. 5. Best part of being a mom? I have a family who loves me. Caroline Poser (Carlie) has published inspirational and sometimes funny stories about parenting for 16+ years. (You can learn more about her bookshere or check out her author page on Amazon.com.) Her blog is called Coffee Talk. Carlie says, “Just when I think I'm ready to move on from writing about kids and parenting, another story comes to mind and I remember that my kids are stillmy why.”
