I am Marcie Kenny. I started this website as a resource blog for parents of young children. I am not a mother, but I am number seven in a family of nine. I am also known as "Aunt Marcie" to 18 and "great aunt" to 10. I am a former preschool teacher with a great love and fascination for early childhood development. I have extensive experience and insight into their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs.
Caring for children one-on-one and having the opportunity to watch them grow and learn is its own reward. I am grateful every day that my journey has led me to a place where I can make a positive difference in their young lives. My strengths are in assisted learning through structured playtime activities such as arts and crafts, games, and physical activity. I love organizing outings to provide fun and exercise. |
My inspiration comes from many sources. The number one source is my own mother. I’ve always been inspired by David Elkind, the author of The Hurried Child. In this book, he talks about the value of play. I base much of my own philosophy on this. I truly believe that kids need to have the freedom to just be kids. As caregivers, we all have a responsibility to protect the joy and freedom that comes from play, since it is an integral part of their early experience.
With this blog I will share creative ideas on fun playtime activities as well as tips on bathing, dressing and feeding infants, and preparing formulas and changing diapers. I’ve also got an extensive repertoire of healthy and fun snacks that children really love. I’m excited to share them all with you. I’m always happy to discuss anything to do with your child’s happiness. |
